24kGoldn - DROPPED OUTTA COLLEGE (Debut Album)

November 27, 2019

A man who encapsulates pondering and broken thoughts into a tangible collection of rhymes and melodies polished, ready for the world to see. 24kGoldn truly sets a new bar for himself with his debut album 'DROPPED OUTTA COLLEGE', and it is definitely a record you will want to hear again and again and again.

There are only eight songs on the LP (album). On average the songs are only 2:40 seconds long and the record spans only 21 minutes. The LP is under the genre of Hip-Hop/Rap but don't let that fool you into thinking this is just you're typical Rap album; a collection of songs composed of repetitive 808s, and trap high-hats. No, every song on this LP has a different message and vibe that can't be compared to any other song on the record. It pulls you in with a song I could see people moshing to as the first song and ends with R&B vibes. Each song has a unique color and dynamic that keep listeners bobbing their head for the full duration of the LP. For instance, song seven, 'BEEN HERE BEFORE', has a rhythm acoustic guitar that plays through the entire song, giving it a unique alternative pop sound. Over half the songs start with an electric guitar and 80% of the lyrics are sung. There is only one featured artist on the LP and it's Fetty Wap on the second song, 'THE GRAM', and in my opinion is one of the two songs I would consider "rap" on this whole project. The other one is the first song 'DROPPED OUTTA COLLEGE'.

In conclusion, 10/10. If I were to compare 24kGoldn to anyone it would be a mixture of XXXTENTACION and Trippie Redd, but that's just me. I highly recommend this record to anyone who's looking to party, love somebody, and everything in-between.

Lyrics That Stick:

"Russian Cream in my rocket ship, we go to outer space

Mask off, mask on, fuck it

I can't catch a case

Blast off, blast off, See the stars up in Wraith."
